Finding new paths to treat retinal diseases

Dear Colleagues,

We are thrilled to invite you to the VM Retina Meeting, a conference on the latest developments in retinal practice that will alternate between Verona and Munich.

We have pondered over what attendees expect from such an event and believe that it should serve as a platform for networking, sharing knowledge and discussing cutting-edge research in the field. In particular, live surgery and video discussion will give the opportunity to learn from colleagues’ experiences in tackling challenging surgical cases. In addition, it should provide an opportunity to gain insights into the current limits of science and technology while exploring new routes.

Why a joint meeting between Verona and Munich? First, there is a longstanding tradition of collaboration between these two cities, which have been twinned since 1960. In 1974, Verona gifted a statue of Juliet to be placed at the foot of the Marienplatz Municipal building. In turn, Munich had artist Konstantin Frick construct the Fontana delle Alpi, which was then placed in Piazza Bra. For us, however, this is a symbol of the link between professionals who, through the exchange of knowledge, form a solid network that will help to shape the future of ophthalmology.

Nonetheless, an international meeting is also an opportunity to reunite with friends and relish the cultural and gastronomic aspects of the host city. Verona and Munich will not disappoint in this regard!

We look forward to welcoming you to Verona on May 2-4, 2024, followed by Munich in 2026.

Kind regards from Verona and Munich,

Grazia Pertile & Siegfried Priglinger
